How do I place an order with Gimmee Some Sugar?

Cake orders can be taken over the phone and through email. We have an online form that will help guide you through the process and collect all the details needed. We also meet with clients in person to discuss ideas and best of all... to taste our cakes!

How far in advance do I need to place my order?

We recommend contacting us at least 3 weeks before your event; however, some weekends do fill up quickly and book up completely. Gimmee Some Sugar works on a first come, first served basis, so the sooner you can book your date, the better. Depending on our workload, we can occasionally squeeze in last minute orders. Feel free to call or email us to see if there is an opening.

How are your cakes and confections priced?

Each cake, cookie, and cupcake is custom designed. Because each confection is a one-of-a-kind creation, it is difficult to provide standardized pricing. We do, however, have a starting price point for each type of cake and confection that we offer. Prices go up from this base depending on complexity of design and the number of people you are looking to feed. Please call the bakery for a more accurate price quote.

Single Tiered Cake: $39 and up

Two-Tiered Cakes: $89 and up

Sculpted Cakes: $200 and up

Cookies: $1.50 and up

Cupcakes: $2.50 and up

Do you charge extra for cakes with different-flavored tiers? Do some flavors cost more than others?

We love cake here at Gimmee Some Sugar and we can certainly understand wanting to cater to all different taste buds. We do not charge extra for additional flavors, in fact, we encourage it. We want all your guests to be satisfied!

How do I reserve my event date? Do you require a deposit?

A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required to reserve a wedding date. Three weeks before your event your final balance is due. If you would like to book the date, but have not decided on design, you are welcome to send in your deposit and we can continue to work on the design until the balance is due. If you would like to book the date for another type of event or custom cake we can do so with a non-refundable $100 deposit with the remaining balances due prior to pick up or delivery.

Do you offer tastings? When can I schedule an appointment? How many people can I bring?

Yes! We do take home tastings only. You must order your tasting prior to arriving for your appointment. Because we are busy finishing and delivering our cakes on the weekends, we are unable to offer a regular appointment schedule on most weekends. However, if the weekends are the only times that work with your schedule, please let us know and we will find a time to schedule you in between our deliveries.

We allot one hour for each appointment. Often times, we have tastings scheduled before and after yours. Please try to arrive on time, so that we can make the most of time together!

Tasting appointments can be booked for one to three people. Please notify us of how many people will attend the tasting so that we plate the proper number of cakes for you and your guests to take home and try.

What do I need to know coming in to the appointment? What do I need to bring?

You don't necessarily need to bring anything to your tasting, however bringing in something that may help us understand the feel of your event -- color swatches, invitations, pictures of the floral arrangement, a magazine clipping, a photo, or anything else you draw inspiration from is always helpful! Also, coming into the appointment with some idea of budget will allow us to discuss the perfect design in a comfortable price range.

Do you deliver?

Yes! Our drivers will go absolutely anywhere. There are set delivery charges to areas outside of Bakersfield. Any out-of-town or out-of-state deliveries are charged by the mile. Please call or email us for an estimate.

Do you ship cakes?

Unfortunately, we do not ship our cakes -- they are much too detailed and fragile to send through the mail. We can offer to drive them out to you or you can arrange to have them flown out through your airlines.

Can I taste Whole cakes?

We offer you the ability to order a sample cake of the combination of your choice. We recommend that you review your menu and limit your choices to 1-2 cakes. Each sample is $20 and is enough cake to serve 6-8 people. If you need guidance on choosing a flavor combination please call us, we are here to help you.

I have food restriction. Does Gimmee Some Sugar make organic, gluten-free , dairy free or vegan cakes?

At this time, we can only offer Gluten Free products to order. But please be advised that those with food severe allergies can have reactions to our products. Although we take great care in sanitizing our facility prior to manufacturing anything Gluten Free, we use ingredients on a daily basis that can be introduced without our knowledge.

How many tiers would my cake be?

The number of servings you require will determine the number of tiers the cake will have. Below are the basic guidelines.

Note: a cake for 60 and a cake for 100 could both be a 3 tiered cake, but the width of the layers would be adjusted to accommodate the number of servings the cake provides.

Servings of 50-100 = 1-2 tiered cake

Servings of 100-200 = 2-3 tiered cake

Servings of 200-300 = 5-6 tiered cake

Servings of 300-400 = 6-8 tiered cake

At this time we only offer gluten free and nut free products. With that being said:

We take every precaution we can to avoid cross contamination with regards to nuts and gluten free. Be advised that we cannot guarantee any of our products against allergens as our facility is not dedicated allergen free. Please take this into consideration when ordering nut free or gluten free products.
